Cricket is like religion in India. A young cricket fan and entrepreneur Shubham Saran felt that the country doesn’t have enough fantasy cricket platforms as compared to the volume of fandom. He, along with like-minded sports enthusiasts, decided to build a fantasy sports platform targeting millions of cricket fans who have deep knowledge of the game. He wanted to empower these fans by giving them access to create their own team and line-ups so they feel like they could be captains of a virtual cricket team. Saran wanted to build this fantasy cricket platform ahead of IPL 2017 so he could get a first-hand feedback of initial users.
How can I build an authentic fantasy cricket platform where each user would feel like a stellar team selector?
Team Vinfotech specially worked on making the platform simple enough so any kind of user could easily draft his own league team. Our fantasy sports framework vFantasy allowed us to customize features in a way that the platform could appeal to both amateurs as well as professional fantasy sports players.
Indian demographic is still building up to fantasy sports. We want our platform to be relatable to this audience yet stand out from the competition.
Being Indian ourselves, we know exactly what would appeal to this demographic. At the same time, our unique designs would ensure that PlayZo has a personality of its own.
I want to launch this fantasy cricket platform before Indian Premier League 2017.
We can deliver the project within this time period.
I want a platform that would keep attracting more users.
Through referral bonuses and rewards, we would incentivize users who invite their friends and acquaintances to the platform.
I want to be able to create a killer cricket team that is more competitive than the actual IPL teams.
I want Ashish Nehra to get a higher rank in the batting line-up while Virat Kohli to be the captain of my cricket team.
I want to chat with other fantasy cricket players within the same app so I can get advice and improve my line-up.
Team Vinfotech aimed at creating an exciting and relevant fantasy cricket platform for Indian users. Leveraging from our six-year-long industry experience, we carefully selected the set of schemes required for developing an application that would allow users to devise, strategize, collaborate and reap rewards for their efforts.
We built upon our decade-long understanding of fantasy cricket research that we have carried on year after year to understand the evolving cricket fans.
We created user profiles from a big group of cricket fans and those who played cricket as a hobby. This helped us short-list the features that we were to incorporate in the platform.
In consolidating our findings and accommodating the vision of the application, we created an internal document to see the various reward schemes and future revenue-generation aspects of the application.
We began with active interactions with Shubham Saran for a deeper understanding of his goals and his specific expectations. We were inspired by how passionate he was about cricket and for bringing a great fantasy cricket experience to Indian fans.
Play Zo was focused on IPL 2017 so we quickly created wireframes that would easily give the client a quick visualization of the app. Our wireframes gave him the confidence that the web application would be one-of-a-kind yet no less competitive than its counterparts in India.
As always we kept in mind the two vital aspects of our design process. One, our UI had to look competitive yet easy to use in order to balance amateur, middle-level and expert players. Two, the platform had to evoke an old brand’s trust right from the first sight.
Our experience in creating fantasy sports applications helped us to speed-up the development at this stage. We did quality analysis for user experience along with working on various aspects of the fantasy cricket website.
Our developers were given the feedback of some initial users who had tested the application at a very early stage. Their feedback further helped us foresee any future anomalies.
As we had to deliver the product before IPL 2017, we quickly launched the beta version so the client could prepare for the launch of the platform sooner.
